Algaecide prevents algae from growing – the very small organisms that grow in water or very damp environments. Use algaecide to prevent sudden growth when your chlorine levels drop. If your swimming pool or pond water is clouding, or scum is forming over the surface, you should treat it with a shock chlorine or pool clarifier instead.
